The Victoria Hospitals Foundation is seeking an experienced Research Officer to join our team. This full-time, permanent position is a key member of the development team reporting to the Manager, Fundraising Operations.

Central to this role is the development and coordination of donor-related research to support fundraising strategies of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation. This includes donor and prospective donor profiles (which assess linkages, ability to give and interests) and maintaining an annual research plan to inform the fundraising activities of the Foundation.

You will be involved in proposal and grant writing including the tracking system used to monitor deadlines and fulfill appropriate follow-up. You will work closely with Island Health staff to seek out and maintain information on current equipment needs, special projects and health care delivery statistics to be used in donor communication materials.

Our ideal candidate has experience working in the not-for-profit sector, has excellent organizational skills, and is able to work independently and as part of a team. Also essential to this role are:

  • Proven research experience and exceptional writing skills
  • Proficiency at prioritizing, and managing multiple, diverse, on-going projects
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience using Raiser’s Edge software, or a comparable relational database or record keeping system
  • A degree, diploma or certificate in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of experience and education
